The whole territory of Liaocheng is in between latitude 35°47’~37°02’'north and longitude 115°16’~116°32 'east. From the south to the north is 138 km and from the east to the west is 114 km. The total area is 8715 square kilometers. The total population is 5.5752 million with population density of 640 per square kilometers, among which there are 38 minorities with population of above 67.3 thousand. The city locates in the Yellow River alluvial plain, whose terrain is high in southwest and low in northeast. Area of cultivated land is 553183 hectares and Per capita Cultivated Area is 1.49 mu. Belonging to the warm-temperate monsoon zone, Liaocheng has distinctive four seasons, with plentiful sunshine and mild climate. The whole year sunshine duration is between 2463-2741 hours and non-frost period is about 200days. Liaocheng has jurisdiction over Guanxian County, Shanxian County, Yanggu County, Dong’e County, Chiping County, Gaotang County, Dongchangfu District, Liaocheng Economic Development Zone and Linqing City which administrates 126 towns and sub-districts, and 6516 villages.
